Madhya Pradesh:Two women in the Ashoknagar district here have filed an application in the SP office seeking permission for same-sex marriage.
One of the two girls hails from Mungaoli while the other one is from Chanderi.
The girl from Mungaoli has informed that her family is in support of the marriage and have made preparations for it. While the other girl's family is becoming an obstacle to their marriage.
Her family members have even threatened to set her on fire if she marries in the same sex.
The couple filed an application in the SP office for getting permission for their marriage. Therefore, the girls decided to approach the SP office to inform him that if any report or complaint comes against them, it should not be registered.
Both the girls are so adamant about marrying each other that they have threatened to commit suicide if their marriage is not permitted.
One of them had deep wounds on her face, from attempted suicide. She had tried to hurt herself with a blade. While the other girl had also attempted suicide in the past by eating rat poison once and hanging herself the second time.
The girls assured SP Pankaj Kumawa that if their marriage is permitted they would not face any problem of livelihood as one of them could also drive an auto-rickshaw.
They said that they had met three years ago and fell in love with each other. They have been together since then.
SP Pankaj Kumawat has accepted their application and appointed a team for conducting an enquiry in this matter.
