Ujjain(Madhya Pradesh): The city of temples Ujjain becomes the first city in India after Daman and Diu to have the smart nameplate facility with QR codes. Under the smart city development program, district administration and municipal officers have started providing services in Ujjain. Smart nameplates have been introduced in Ward-51 in Ujjain, making Madhya Pradesh the first state to have this unique provision. HDFC Bank has sponsored this entire move and backed up the software development too.
MP becomes the first state to have smart nameplate facility Vinod Singh, the IT expert of the smart city company, has informed that installing smart nameplates have numerous benefits.
The first advantage is for the public in which residents with smart nameplates can track their water tax as well as property tax using the nameplates. Apart from this, municipal workers can log in their attendance by simply scanning the nameplates. Smart nameplates would help the government and municipal administration to monitor the public from their respective offices and the control centre.

Singh further informed that the nameplates will have QR codes along with the name of the resident and their address which will have the details regarding the tax and income of the residents. These details can simply be obtained by scanning the code using the smart city mobile app.
The waste collectors will have to scan the QR code to log in information regarding door-to-door waste collection, the data of which can be accessed by the municipality online.
The QR codes will also give details regarding the water bill and the electricity bill as well as the property tax of the resident. The QR codes can further be used to register complaints and grievances and expect quick redressal as the complete data would be available with the municipality.
With the use of these nameplates, Ujjain will become smart and the residents will become smarter. Services including water-electricity, waste collection, improvement of public transport, health facilities, education, environmental up-gradation as well as safety of the citizens will now be accessed easily. Online payment of bills and taxes will be made possible with the smart city app.
