Indore (Madhya Pradesh):Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Indore administration banned all marriage functions in the district to avoid mass gatherings.
Speaking to the media, Manish Singh, deputy collector of Indore, said that the decision has been taken in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Deputy Collector Manish Pandey speaking to the media "I urge people of the district to postpone the marriage functions as permission will not be given for that. I also request people to cooperate in preventing the spread of COVID-19," he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier said that the government is taking measures to ramp up medical infrastructure including beds for Covid-19 patients.
The state on Sunday reported 12,248 COVID-19 cases, the state’s highest single-day spike so far, taking the tally above four lakh, an official said.
The state’s caseload stands at 4,08,080, including 4,557 deaths, 66 of which took place in the last 24 hours, he added.
