Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):Amid a rapid surge in COVID-19 cases, Madhya Pradesh hospitals and COVID treatment facilities face an acute shortage of oxygen. Despite the tall claims of the state government, healthcare professionals -- government and private -- said that the situation in hospitals is highly critical as far as the availability of beds and oxygen are concerned. Meanwhile, several schools are seen violating COVID-19 guidelines.

COVID patient dies after ward boy allegedly removes oxygen support
A man battling with COVID-19 died at a district hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri after a ward boy allegedly removed oxygen support. Family members of Surendra Sharma, a teacher, alleged that his oxygen support was removed by a ward boy and fixed it to another patient. Sharma died of breathlessness.

Sources said Sharma was in a critical condition and was put on oxygen support. CCTV footage shows him talking to his son. Around 11 pm, the son leaves and Sharma falls asleep. In some time, the ward boy arrives and takes the portable oxygen concentrator out of the bed. Sharma died, shortly.
