Remark against Imarti Devi is Congress' extent of shamelessness: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal:Hitting out at former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath for his derogatory comments against cabinet minister Imarti Devi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said Nath's comment was shamelessly justified.

In a special interaction with ETV Bharat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: "The remark was a disrespect not just to the minister, but each and every woman. The way Nath commented and how it was justified later shows the extent of shamelessness."

"With this kind of cheap statement, Congress' crooked and despicable mentality has come to the fore again. Such a comment about a woman is against every daughter and mother. He (Kamal Nath) has crossed limits of shamelessness," Chouhan said.

The Chief Minister also dared Congress president Sonia Gandhi to take action against Kamal Nath.

"Madam Sonia Gandhi, a leader of your party, a former CM has made such a comment. Is it okay? Don't the poor women have dignity? Madam, if you think the remark was wrong, what action will you take? I am writing to you, make a decision," Shivraj Singh Chouhan further said.

Chouhan also observed a two-hour silent protest early on Monday.

Speaking to media Cabinet Minister Imarti Devi said she will commit suicide if an FIR is not registered lodged against Kamal Nath.

Bypolls for 28 Madhya Pradesh Assembly seats will be held on November 3 and results will be declared on November 10.
