Bhind (Madhya Pradesh): There was a time when Madhya Pradesh's Chambal valley was infamous for its hordes of robbers and dacoits. There was hardly a day when the echoes of gunshots did not tear the silence of the valley. Although, things are changing now for good as daughters in the area have not only taken the gun, but are also shooting with complete confidence towards their aim.

Chambal's daughters aim at 'bull's eye'

It would not be an exaggeration to call these young girls, 'the future of Chambal,' as these young daughters have taken up the challenge to not only change the infamous image of the district, but also make their own futures.

The best part though is, not only have they taken up the challenge, but are working very hard to achieve it too.

These young girls, for whom guns were only a plaything and shooting was just a hobby, converted it into a raging passion and have taken charge to ensure that the reputation of state is built up and maintained in the shooting arena.

Bhind may get a new identity

This initiative by school teachers to train these young girls may actually give Bhind a new identity, but the discouraging and apathetic response by the sports department is a dampener to the high spirits of these young hopefuls.

Their coach Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha inspired them to make a carrer in the field of shooting.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kushwaha said, "We want to change the image of district by using guns in the right way. Sports department needs to be bit active in tapping the talents and providing them training facilities. The sports department does not seem to be very active although we are trying to set-up a shooting range here."

These Girls dream of Gold

It is to be noted that as many as 21 girls of the district have proved their mettle in state level shooting competitions. These girls now aim to win gold for the country but lack of facilities is creating hindrance in their progress.

When ETV Bharat, flagged this issue before the local District Sports Officer Arun Kumar, he assured that all possible aid and help will be provided.

"If I get a letter from the principal of the school or students come up to me with an application then I can forward it further so that their problems can be solved through proper channel," said Kumar.
