Lockdown: MP provides aid of Rs 1,000 for labourers

Amid the ongoing lockdown, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed aid of Rs 1,000 for 7,000 daily earners who were migrated from as many as 22 states to the Madhya Pradesh for their livelihood. The distribution of the relief amount costs Rs 70 lakh to the state government.

Bhopal:Amid the ongoing lockdown to contain the coronavirus epidemic, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed aid of Rs 1,000 for labourers in the unorganised sector.

It includes 7,000 daily earners who were migrated from as many as 22 states to the Madhya Pradesh for their livelihood.

It also includes 245 Indian and one Nepali labourer who were not enrolled under the Madhya Pradesh labourer register act.

Meanwhile, the distribution of the relief amount costs Rs 70 lakh to the state government.

The relief amount was announced two days after Shivraj Singh Chouhan take over Kamal Nath led government.

"Labourers in the unorganized sector will be given financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each through the Sannirman Karmkar Mandal", said Chouhan on March 25.

He also announced that beneficiaries of the social security pension scheme, widow pension, old-age pension and destitute pension schemes will get two months'' pension in advance.

Further, an advance of Rs 2,000 per family would be provided to members of the Shariya, Baiga and Bhariya tribal communities, he said.

With 181 more persons testing positive for coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh, their tally climbed to 938 on Wednesday, health officials said.

However, no fresh death was reported in the past 24 hours in the state, where the fatality count stood at 53, they said.

The viral disease expanded its footprint to two new districts, taking their number to 26 out of the total 52 districts in the state.
