Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh):Wanted gangster Vikas Dubey was arrested by Madhya Pradesh police at the Mahakal temple in Ujjain on Thursday morning.
Police had been searching for the elusive gangster for almost 6 days after the deadly shootout in Kanpur in which 8 police officers lost their lives. According to the police he was last spotted at a hotel in Faridabad.
Know how Vikas Dubey reached MP crossing two-state boundaries Before being arrested, Vikas had entered Madhya Pradesh via Ambah two days ago. According to sources, Vikas Dubey reached Ambah via Agra Mumbai Highway.
After Kanpur shootout, there was an alert on the borders of all the states adjoining Uttar Pradesh.
However, giving a slip to police Vikas first reached Delhi and then entered Madhya Pradesh via Rajasthan.
According to sources, he reached Ujjain via Jhalawar in Rajasthan. He hired a taxi in Rajasthan's Jhalawar to reach Ujjain with the help of an acquaintance.
However, despite all the high alerts Vikas reached Ujjain giving a slip to police thus raising questions on the security lapses by the police.
After Vikas Dubey's absconding, the police headquarters was directed to remain on alert on Uttar Pradesh borders.
Along with this, instructions were also given to check all the vehicles passing through the state borders.
However, Vikas Dubey not only entered Madhya Pradesh but also reached Ujjain via Uttar Pradesh.

Congress party has raised many questions about the intelligence failure of the police and about the arrest as well.
Former minister Lakhan Singh Yadav has raised several questions about the arrest and has also said that it was a way to save him from being killed.
He further alleged that the way Vikas Dubey was coming out of the temple premises, it appeared as if he was a normal criminal.
Two aides of Vikas Dubey were gunned down in separate encounters in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. While Prabhat was killed in Kanpur when he tried to flee from police custody, another aide of Vikas Dubey, Praveen alias Bauwa Dubey, was shot dead in an encounter in Etawah.
With more than 60 criminal cases registered against him, Vikas Dubey is a history-sheeter, a resident of Bikru village. Wanted in several high profile murder, robbery and kidnapping cases, the gangster Vikas Dubey has an alleged role in the killing of BJP leader Santosh Shukla in Shivli police station in 2001.
Dubey's criminal record began in 1993 after he formed a gang with scores of youngsters and accumulated charges of attempted murder, abduction, extortion. Having a strong political link, the criminal also kept a private army and he was the most sought after person in rigging the elections.
