Dhar (Madhya Pradesh):Sita Vasuniya is just like any other tribal women in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. However, she has emerged as an icon of women-empowerment in her community, making her immensely popular nowadays.
Sita Vasuniya, popularly known as Sita Didi, has been featured on the cover page of Vogue Italia — the Italian edition of the world’s premier fashion magazine, Vogue.
The magazine featured Sita wearing a Dabu print saree, which is made by her Self Help Group at Mandu village of the district which is famous for its Dabu print sarees.

"Women in Mandu are making sarees, kurtas, dupattas, chadars with their own hands in the livelihood mission office located across 56 places of Mandu. The self-help group gives training in artworks of Dabu print to women from three villages," said Alok Kumar Singh, district collector, Dhar.

Sita being featured in her own block printed handloom saree on the Vogue Italia digital edition is just the beginning. We're confident that in the coming months, not only Sita but the other young girls and women will become self-dependent and earn livelihood on their own," Singh added.
