Irani embarrassed by thin crowd, winds up address midway

Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday was in Dabra to seek votes for the BJP nominee Vivek Narayan ahead of the sixth phase of voting on May 12. Irani had to virtually face an embarrassment in Dabra as the rally she addressed had a very thin public presence and most of the chairs at the venue remained vacant.

Gwalior: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday failed to evoke a public response in Gwalior's Dabra area as she had to wind up her speech in haste due to thin crowds.

Irani was in Dabra to seek votes for the BJP nominee Vivek Narayan ahead of the sixth phase of voting on May12.

Irani had to virtually face an embarrassment in Dabra as the rally she addressed had a very thin public presence and most of the chairs at the venue remained vacant.

This forced Irani to snap her speech midway and immediately leave for Delhi.

Gwalior has traditionally been a bastion of Scindia family but of late AICC general secretary, Jyotiraditya Scindia has shifted his constituency to Guna after BJP wrested the seat from Scindia family.

Congress has once against field Ashok Singh who lost to union minister Narendra Singh Tomar in 2014.
