Heavy rains, hailstorm destroys crop in MP

Heavy rains and hailstorm have caused major damage to the crops in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

Chhindwara: Intense rainfall accompanied by hailstorm have left behind a trail of major destruction for the farmers in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district.

Heavy rains on Saturday night have caused major damage to the crops and in some cases, the farmers have even suffered 70% to 80% crop damage.

The crop worst hit was Rabi, farmers said.

Adverse weather is a risk, an official said. He further stated that the officials are monitoring the situation and trying to assess the full extent of the cumulative losses.

The loss of crops have disturbed the farmers and due to the strong winds standing Rabi crops including soybean and wheat have also suffered major damage.
