Bhopal: As the COVID-19 death toll is rising in the country, authorities are dealing with the sensitive issue of last rites of the deceased.

Though guidelines are being prepared on what cultural and local practices will be permitted, people are sceptical about getting infected while performing last rites.

The Vishram Ghat authorities came up with the idea to complete the last rites of the deceased coronavirus patient through 'Gaukasht'.

They suggested that the last rites of coronavirus patients should be completed with dried cow-dung cakes.

It is believed that performing last rites with cow-dung cakes will kill the virus and it will not be spreading further.

Meanwhile, the cow dung cakes smoke does not pollute the environment and it is also affordable.

The cremation ground authorities argued people to perform last rites with complete prayers and rituals including 'Gaukasht'.
