Indore: The problem of farmers in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur is increasing each day as they are losing crop prices amid lack of purchase of maize following which they are under the burden of heavy debts.

As per farmers, the government is not buying maize crop in Mandi and forcing them to sell crops to middlemen and traders.

Due to lack of registration, the maize crop is not being procured by the administration in Mandis and farmers are forced to sell the crop at half price.
Jabalpur farmers receive lesser income on maize produce Farmer activists have stated that the Central government had fixed the support price of maize crop at Rs 1,850 following which farmers have grown the crops in the area of about 20,000 hectares of land.
Farmers have yielded an excellent harvest but they are unable to get a fair price for their produce and hence are forced to sell corn crops at Rs 700 to 800 per quintal.
According to the administration, the purchase of maize will commence after getting a green signal from the state government.
Farmers in Jabalpur are disappointed as the price they are getting in the market is not even able to extract the farming cost which eventually restricts them to prepare for the upcoming harvest and he is unable to repay his debt.
