Fake plasma donation racket busted in MP, four held

A racket which invovled in the supply of plasma in Gwalior has been nailed by Madhya Pradesh police on Saturday. Police have also arrested four persons including the mastermind of the racket.

Gwalior:The Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday arrested three persons for cheating a number of people on the pretext of donating plasma to Covid-19 patients in Gwalior town.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ajay Shankar Tyagi, the mastermind of the racket, Jagdish Bhadkaria, Mahesh Maurya and Hemant, who are employees at various private hospitals in Gwalior.

According to the police, the complaint was filed by one Manoj Tiwari's family members. They came to know about the racket after Tiwari's death due to coronavirus.

A police team led by Gwalior superintendent of police, Amit Sanghi, arrested the main accused Tyagi and others from JAH Hospital area.

During interrogation, Tyagi said that he and his aides used to contact people in need of plasma and they used to pose themselves as donors.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, SP Sanghi said, "The accused who were arrested had no medical degree or qualification in this regard. They were carrying out their operations themselves. The whole operation was being conducted without any professional medical."

"Tyagi and his group used to get online payment for the plasma. We have arrested four persons in this regard and further investigation is underway," he said.
