Madhya Pradesh: Elderly man dies at hospital doorstep due to delayed medical aid

In a shocking incident depicting the medical apathy in the state of Madhya Pradesh, a 70-year-old man, who was a COVID suspect, died at the Civil Hospital's doorstep due to an alleged lack of medical attention in Ratlam's Jaora city.

Ratlam: Ratlam: A 70-year-old man who was admitted to the Civil Hospital after he complained of respiratory problems, allegedly died at the doorsteps of the hospital on Sunday owing to the alleged delay on the hospital’s part in attending him.

As per reports, the incident was reported from Jaora city in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district where the elderly man brought to the hospital by his son.

The deceased has been identified as Onkarlal Patidar, a COVID suspect, who allegedly breathed his last in the lap of his son after waiting for the doctor outside the OPD for more than an hour.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, the kin of the deceased said that they appealed to ward boys and other attendants to send a doctor but no one paid heed to it.

Meanwhile, Block Medical officer Deepak Paldiya said that the patient was brought in a very serious condition and he was attended to by the doctors on duty.

The doctors tried their best but could not save him as he was very critical, he added.

Following the incident, angry relatives of the deceased allegedly created a ruckus in the hospital due to which the local police had to intervene to sort out the matter.

Madhya Pradesh on Sunday reported 5,939 fresh COVID positive cases, the highest rise in a single day, taking the tally to 3,38,145 while 24 fatalities pushed the toll to 4,184, the state health department said.
