New Delhi: The Congress party, on Thursday, raised serious concerns over the increase in job loss, while taking a dig at Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan over the decision of domicile-based job quota, saying, "How can you give something which you don't have?"

While addressing a press conference, Congress' senior spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi cited data of the month of April which stated that 1.45 crore salaried class people have lost employment.

He said, "The figure has now gone to 1.9 crores in July. Now, the main question arises is that the ruling BJP Government should tell us where the employment or jobs will come from? When will Madhya Pradesh CM stop jumlebaazi?" "What is the country going to get by reservation in jobs? When you don't have jobs, what will you do with reservations?" Singhvi further added. He also noted that salaried class, if lose their jobs, it is far more difficult to retrieve as compared to the non-salaried class.

"Why is PM Modi speaking about it? Why is there no blueprint? Why is this Government clueless? When he has these long meetings with his officials does it come out with anything taking this combine scourge of a secular in GDP coupled with a humongous secular increase in unemployment?" he asked.

Congress also mentioned the decline in GDP rate, while quoting a report of the World Bank which stated that the Indian economy will contract by 3.2 per cent in 2020-21. "We know that World Bank figures are conservative, the reality is worse than that. Experts are suggesting that India has reached a state of depression," said Singhvi.

He also claimed while citing a report that only 2 out of 5 people got ration, only up to 40 per cent, while the government had promised up to 60 per cent. "More than 50 per cent of people are not getting proper nourishment with extreme pain and your warehouses are overflowing. There is a clear fundamental mismatch in your governance structure," said the Congress leader.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday announced that state government jobs will be reserved only for local residents, for which his government is going to take necessary steps.
