'Computer Baba's' ashram demolished in MP

An ashram of self-styled godman 'Computer Baba' has been demolished by the district authorities in Indore because it was an illegal construction.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh):District administration in Indore demolished the ashram of self-styled godman 'Computer Baba on Sunday. The Indore Municipal Corporation and the district administration termed it as an 'encroachment' on village land.

'Computer Baba', has been taken into police custody protesting against the administration's action on his ashram.

"Six people have been detained as they tried to obstruct the demolition process," said Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Ajay Dev Sharma.

The seer, whose real name is Namdev Tyagi, and some of his supporters have been detained for protesting the action taken by the Indore district administration to remove encroachments from the ashram.

District administration completely destroyed the ashram, accusing Computer Baba that an ashram was constructed on the land taken by him for the cowshed.

A large number of the police force and district officers were also present on the spot.

Many JCB machines were pressed into service to demolish the ashram.

Officials said that Baba was also served notice to remove the encroachments. An order for eviction from the government land was also issued. Baba had built an ashram and shed allegedly by illegally occupying over 40 acres of government land valued around Rs 80 crore.

At present, the police officers are still not officially confirming the arrest of Computer Baba but are giving evasive answers about his arrest, while the police also seized a gun from Computer Baba's ashram.

Meanwhile, police is investigating the whole matter

Computer Baba was once in good books of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In 2018, computer baba had quit then-chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's government. He was inducted in Chouhan's cabinet with the minister of state rank. Later, he supported Congress
