While BJP in Madhya Pradesh's Indore held a protest against released web series ‘Tandav’ and demanded a ban on the show, Expressing similar concerns, BSP National president Mayawati also said that the objectionable content of the web series should be removed.

Indore:Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party's Scheduled Front members have burnt the posters of the recently released web series ‘Tandav’ and demanded a ban on the alleging that the show has "disrespected Hindu gods" on Monday.

The members of the party claimed the lack of censorship on online platforms is leading to repeated attacks on Hindu sentiments.

Speaking to media persons in this regard, BJP's Scheduled Front President, Rajesh Shirodkar said," In the recently released web series 'Tandav', a character, acting the role of Lord Mahadev has uttered vulgar words. It seems that the makers of Tandav have mocked Hindu gods and disrespected Hindu religious sentiments."

"We will lodge an FIR against Saif Ali Khan's latest web series 'Tandav'. The series has hurt the sentiments of Hindus and we would not tolerate this," he added.

Expressing similar concerns, BSP National president Mayawati also tweeted," The newly released web series 'Tandav' hurts Hindu religious sentiments and following this, protest are ongoing. The objectionable content must be brought under censorship and should be removed from the show. So that the atmosphere of peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood is not spoiled anywhere in the country."

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken cognizance of complaints against web series Taandav and sought an explanation from Amazon Prime Video. The Ministry has also summoned Amazon Prime Video officials in India in connection with the controversy around the web series.
