Sehore:Just fifteen kilometers away from the bustling capital Bhopal, lies Lasudia Parihar village in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, where a weird ritual has been in practice for centuries: it is believed that snake's soul enters human body and narrates the reason why it bit the person.

The ritual is observed the day following Diwali, which is an important festival for Hindus.

It is believed that the practice takes out the poison from the victim's body and also ensures that such incident is not repeated.

Surprisingly, this superstition has been going on for more than 300 years.

While a plate with serpent engraving is hit zealously, people wait for the snake's soul to enter the body to confess why it bit the person.

People in large numbers come to witness the ritual.

"A lot of people come and participate in the ceremony. They experience positive results and return to their home happily," told the priest.
