Taking cognizance of the matter of 11 people dying after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, the Chambal IG Manoj Sharma, DIG, Collector and SP IG Office have registered four FIRs in the matter. The police have also taken into custody 8 people who sell counterfeit liquor.

MP: In 2 different incidences 11 died in Morena district by consuming poisonous liquor
Morena:At least 11 people have died after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the probe is underway to ascertain whether the deaths were due to excessive liquor consumption or it was poisonous.
Sources said that four people in Sumawali and seven in Manpur villages died after consuming suspected spurious liquor on Monday night.
Several others fell seriously ill and they were referred to Morena district hospital and Gwalior medical college for treatment.
Inspector-General of Police, Chambal, Manoj Sharma said that the cause of death is being investigated.
Earlier, on 14 October 2020, 16 people died after consuming poisonous liquor in Ujjain.
A large amount of methanol was mixed with ethanol to make alcohol which was confirmed by FSL officer Preeti Gaikwad.
Methanol is a chemical that could be lethal for the human body and if consumed more than 10 ml, it can cause blindness.
