Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Speaking to the media at a ‘Meet the Press’ programme, here on Tuesday, Arya said, she intends to bring all the Council members together despite all political differences and work towards the people’s collective demands in a time-bound manner, after prioritising what is the most needed in each council member’s region.

More than presiding over the Council, the Mayor’s role, in her perception, is all about bringing together all the Councillors for the people’s good, Arya said. Her intention is to be a good politician, beyond the positions and power, said Arya.

As a student, the prime consideration now would be to ensure a safe environment for the children who reach schools. Besides, activities and schemes focussed on the welfare of women, youth and labourers would also be there, Arya added.

The experiences she has gained in her young age from working in the organisational structure will help in the administrative areas, Arya said.

Arya said, she would examine corruption allegations to the previous term which holds true and also implement solutions for the waste management woes in the city with public participation.

All those who criticise would be given befitting responses through public welfare and development activities. For Arya, being a politician is not a profession, but a duty. If the Party (CPIM) says so, I would get more active in politics, said Arya.
