New Delhi: The Health Ministry and National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reviewed the present situation, preparedness and the action taken to tackle West Nile fever in Kerala's Mallapuram district on Tuesday.

The Health Ministry reviewed the present situation, preparedness and the action taken to tackle West Nile fever in Mallapuram, Kerela on Tuesday.
The ministry has also deputed a team to the district to investigate various epidemiological aspects of West Nile in the district and state, Union Health ministry officials said.
The ministry has advised the state to follow the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme(NVBDCP) guidelines of personal protective measures to prevent mosquito bites.
Vector surveillance and control also has to be carried out in coordination with NVBDCP.
The cases of JE/AES will be investigated and tested for West Nile Fever. IEC campaigns will be carried out to sensitise and aware people of personal protection from mosquito bites.
West Nile Fever is caused by the flavivirus West Nile virus which is also responsible for yellow fever, St Louis encephalitis, and Japanese encephalitis.
