Kozhikode: Indian Union Muslim League MLA KM Shaji is being questioned at the Vigilance headquarters, Kozhikode, in connection with the illegal acquisition of property case. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau had earlier issued notice to Shaji to appear for interrogation.
The interrogation is to find out the source of the unaccounted money and gold found in Shaji's houses in Kozhikode and Kannur. The raid conducted on April 12 led to the revelation. Vigilance's preliminary investigation revealed that Shaji had acquired the property illegally.

Vigilance found that Shaji's assets increased by 166 per cent between 2011 and 2021. Vigilance seized half a crore rupees in Kannur. KM Shaji told Vigilance that the money was brought to the relative's house for the sale of land and requested that he required two days to produce the document related to the amount.

Vigilance also found foreign currency worth Rs 39,000, 431 grams of gold, foreign travel documents and 72 other documents from a house on Malur hill in Kozhikode.
