Former Kerala minister denied bail in flyover scam

A vigilance court on Thursday denied bail to Former PWD Department Minister V K Ebrahimkunju, who was arrested by the state vigilance department in connection with the Palarivattom flyover scam. However, the vigilance department has been granted permission to interrogate Ebrahimkunju at the hospital on November 30.

Kochi:A vigilance court in Moovattupuzha on Thursday denied bail to Former PWD Department Minister V K Ebrahimkunju, who was arrested by the Vigilance in connection with the Palarivattom flyover scam.

The vigilance has been granted permission to interrogate Ebrahimkunju at the private hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The agency had sought his custody for four days, however, the court only granted permission to interrogate him for one day.

He will be interrogated between 9 am and 12 pm and between 3 pm and 5 pm on November 30. Considering his bad health, the court granted Ebrahimkunju permission to continue treatment.

Permission to question him was granted on the basis of strict criteria. The also said the investigation officials must not exert any mental or physical pressure on Ebrahimkunju who is in the judicial custody. The investigators were also asked to give 15 minutes interval after one hour of questioning and should impede the treatment process. The court order on the same has to be handed over to the hospital officials.

Also, the investigators need to take Covid test before the interrogation.
