Mysuru: A 16-yr-old girl asks officials to stop her marriage, prefers education

A 16-year-old girl has written a letter to Piriyapatna's Infant Development Planning Officer, urging them to stop her child marriage and instead educate her. The girl is being forced by her mother and family for child marriage.

Mysuru:A 16-year-old girl has written a letter to Piriyapatna's Infant Development Planning Officer, urging them to stop her child marriage and instead educate her. The girl is being forced by her mother and family for child marriage.

The Hassan-based girl has lost her father but her mother since then has been trying to get her married forcefully. The 16-year-old girl has opposed her marriage and is currently staying at her friend's house. She has written a letter to Piriyapatna's Infant Development Planning Officer and requested her to stop her marriage.

The girl has cleared her Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam and wants to continue her academics. She has requested the officials to help her continue her education. Meanwhile, the officials concerned have decided to send her to Bala Mandir, a government institution.
