Malappuram (Kerala): A man from Malappuram in Kerala has made a 'jeep' which beats the original, all by himself, as his little son asked for a toy jeep.
Sakkeer, a native of Urangattiri Panchayath in the Malappuram district of Kerala, who is an expatriate started the work of making a jeep for his son when he had come home on leave from Qatar some 6 years ago. The jeep was made six years ago, but the incident gained attention on social media only recently.
Sakkeer said he had seen such toy vehicles when he visited houses in Qatar for work. It is from these toy vehicles that he got the inspiration to make a vehicle for his son, he says.
Son asks for a toy jeep, father makes a 'real jeep' at the cost of Rs 1.7 lakhs On reaching India, Sakkeer had travelled to Delhi and many other places to procure the materials and parts needed for making the ‘jeep’.
It took a year for Sakkeer to complete the jeep as he had other engagements also to attend to in the meanwhile. Sakkeer says, it would have actually taken only three months to complete the work if the focus was only making the jeep.

He has used an old Bajaj bike’s engine in the Jeep, which can run for about 35 kilometres with one litre of petrol. If driven on a good highway road, the jeep will give a mileage of 40 kilometres per litre, says Sakkeer. He had shelled out Rs 1,70,000 to make the jeep. As the construction work of his house is on, he had to sell the jeep he made to a man from Kottakkal for Rs 2 lakhs.
Many people have been reaching out to Sakkeer demanding him to make a jeep for them. Sakkeer is now busy making vehicles that can run on electronics and also those that do not even need water to run. As there has been water scarcity in their area, Sakkeer and his son have been helping people fetch water from far places to their homes.
