Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala):Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) is to cut the cost of Malayalam film production by 50 per cent. KFPA president B Ranjith and secretary Anto Joseph elaborated on the association’s decisions in a press meet, here on Friday.
The decision would be communicated to other film-related associations and will be discussed with the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) soon.
KFPA hopes that the artists would voluntarily take a pay cut, considering the situation.
A decision on the percentage of reduction on the artists’ compensation would be made after discussions. The film industry is going through a deep crisis. We hope that all people working in films will cooperate to tide through the crisis.
KFPA will write to AMMA highlighting the need to reduce costs. Actors Mammootty and Mohanlal have personally informed the producers that they are ready to cooperate. KFPA office bearers informed that there would not be any big-budget films in Malayalam in the near future.
