Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that all people aged above 40 in Kerala would get their first dose of COVID vaccine by July 15. He gave directions for the inoculation drive during a COVID review meeting held on Saturday.
About 50 lakh persons aged above 45 are to yet get their first doses of COVID vaccine in Kerala. The State would receive 38 lakh vaccine doses this month, according to sources. Chief Minister Vijayan has said people with mental disabilities would be included in the priority list for the vaccination.
All Secretariat staff, including office staff of ministers, who have not yet been vaccinated would be included in the priority list.

COVID test
Covid testing at regular intervals would be carried out at places where many people work together, especially in the construction sector. The validity of Kisan credit card used by farmers would expire this month. Considering the COVID pandemic situation, the Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to initiate necessary action to extend their validity.

Food kit for 85 lakh people
Chief Minister Vijayan has directed Local Self Governance department and District Administrations to initiate stringent action if they come across any complaints about not getting food from the community kitchens. By June 15, as many as 85 lakh people would be provided with food kits.
Shops selling and buying rubber (raw material) for industrial purposes would be permitted to operate. Industries and shops selling related raw materials can also function.
The tender proceedings for 35 PSA oxygen plants approved by the Central government have been completed. By October, the plants would be fully operational, the Chief Minister said.
As part of the preparations to face the possible third wave of COVID, genome mapping of breakthrough infections and infections in children would be carried out. The results of genome mapping would be scientifically evaluated on a weekly basis.
Different genetic variants of COVID 19 virus are being reported from across the world. It would be checked whether the new variants of the virus are found. Chief Minister Vijayan called for a combined effort to combat the possible third wave of COVID-19.
