'Oxygen bottles' to relieve breathing problems

Addressing increased breathing difficulty among people, 'oxygen bottles' are being sold at RTF medicals in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Six litres of oxygen has been compressed into 150 doses in these easy to use bottles.

Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in increased breathing issues among many people. The condition of asthma and cardiac patients has worsened. In the wake of this problem, easy to carry 'oxygen bottles' are being sold at RTF medicals, a pharmaceutical shop run by a group of senior citizens near LIC office, Pattom, Thiruvanathapuram.

The 'oxygen supplement' developed in Italian technology has gained wide acceptance as long queues are witnessed in front of the medical store. The 'oxygen bottles' are manufactured in Chennai. The supplement has reached south India for the first time.

Oxygen bottles are highly beneficial for asthma and cardiac patients. People who gasp and struggle to breathe while climbing stairs, trekking hills or even while doing their chores at home, can use the oxygen bottle easily and breathe comfortably.

Though the bottle looks like a ‘spray’ bottle at a glance, the oxygen bottle has been made in such a way that it can be used for about two years. Six litres of oxygen has been compressed into 150 doses in these bottles. The bottles which are being sold at Rs 600 to Rs 650 through online platforms are being sold at Rs 500 in this medical shop. The bottle weighing hardly 250 grams can be carried around easily and is very simple to use.

Oxygen supplements had become the new norm with the high rate of atmospheric pollution in New Delhi. Presently, at the RTF Medicals, more than 60 Oxygen bottles are being sold on an average every month. The customers are mostly those above the age of 50.
