Kottayam(Kerala): Following the latest sexual assault allegations, nuns from Kuravilangad convent have demanded action against Bishop Franco Mulakkal. Nuns have demanded security for the victim who gave a statement against the Bishop. They said that Bishop had put pressure on the victim as a result of which the victim did not file a complaint. However, the cops were ready to register a complaint.
Stating that the Bishop filed an appeal to prolong the trial, they said that the Church’s silence in the matter was equal to denying justice.

“Another nun giving a statement against Bishop Franco is a welcome move. The police should have registered a separate case over the statement. The Catholic Church must break its silence in the matter. Instead of standing with the ill-treated, the Church is still supporting those who had abused. The Church must refrain from crucifying the ill-treated,” nuns added.
