NIA files supplementary chargesheet against ISIS-Kasaragod case accused

NIA has filed supplementary chargesheet against Nashidul Hamzafar, an accused in ISIS-Kasaragod case on Saturday. It was filed in special NIA Court in Kerala's Ernakulam. Hamzafar who hails from Kerala's Kasaragod was on his way to join the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) when he was detained by Afghan authorities and subsequently handed over to India on 20 September, 2018.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a supplementary chargesheet against Nashidul Hamzafar, an accused in ISIS-Kasaragod case.

The chargesheet was filed in special NIA Court, Ernakulam, Kerala, under Section 120B read with 125 of the IPC besides Section 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), 1967.

Nashidul Hamzafar who hails from Kerala's Kasaragod was on his way to join the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) when he was detained by Afghan authorities and subsequently handed over to India on 20 September, 2018.

According to NIA, Nashidul Hamzafar had maintained contact with the other absconding accused persons in this case like the prime conspirator Abdul Rashid Abdulla and Ashfak Majeed, who were known to him through his college-mates Shihas and Firoz Khan besides accused Bestin Vincent in a similar case.

Nashidul Hamzafar had left India on 3 October, 2017 and travelled to Muscat, Oman before travelling to Iran. On reaching Kabul, Afghanistan, he was arrested by the Afghan Security Agencies.
