New Delhi: In a significant development related to the forthcoming general election, Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan has submitted his resignation.
Mizoram Governor resigns, to contest against Shashi Tharoor in Kerala
Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan resigned on Thursday morning. President Ramnath Kovind has accepted his resignation.

Sources said that Rajasekharan is planning to contest against senior Congress leader and former minister Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram.
A senior BJP leader, Rajasekharan was also the Kerala BJP president earlier. He took over the charge of Mizoram Governor in 2018.
Sources said that the saffron brigade is planning to pit Rajasekharan agaisnt Tharoor.
Rajasekharan was earlier associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Sangh Parivar in Kerala in earlier 70's.
Sources in the BJP headquarter told ETV Bharat that the state BJP in Kerala also wants Rajasekharan to contest against Tharoor.
Meanwhile, President Ramnath Kovind has accepted his resignation. The President has also appointed Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi to discharge the functions of the Governor of Mizoram, in addition to his own duties.
A new Governor will be appointed for Mizoram soon.
