Meet 'Bullet Girl' from Kottayam

18-year-old girl, Diya Joseph from Kottayam, does bullet repairing works worth Rs 2,000 daily. After getting license, Diya plans to embark on a journey in her Thunderbolt bullet.

Kottayam: As boredom set in during vacation after Class 10, Diya Joseph from Kottayam, tried her hands in repairing bullets. With consistent practise and zeal, Diya has turned out to be a reliable mechanic for bullet lovers. The 18-year-old girl now changes oil and manages general service for bullets with ease.

Watching her father repairing bullets as she grew up, bullet mechanics was not hard for Diya to learn. Her father Joseph said, she is keenly interested in it and learns it easily in one go. "If she is interested in mechanics, let her explore it. Let girls also get more into mechanical works. Elder one is interested in designing and Diya is into mechanical engineering," he said. Joseph runs a workshop near the Kottayam railway station.

George, one of the customers said, "I have been repairing my bike here for over seven years. Diya has brilliant dexterity. It's quite unique that a girl of her age is indulged in mechanic works at a shop." On a daily basis, Diya does repairing work worth Rs 2,000.

The bullet lover, Diya said, "In case if my bullet gets damaged while I am travelling, I should be able to repair it. I was instigated to learn repairing with that thought. Initially, it was hard and I thought I couldn't do it. But, slowly, I learnt it."

Diya who yearns to travel wants to get a driving license and embark on a journey on her Thunderbolt bullet, which was given as a gift by her father. She is also bright in academics. After securing 98% in Class 12, she is now preparing for the engineering entrance exam and NEET. While pursuing automobile engineering, Diya wishes to manage repairing works also along with it.
