Maoist presence detected in Nilambur Forest; Kerala police on high alert

The Thunderbolt squad of the anti-Naxal police team has launched a combing operation to catch hold of the Maoists training in the Nilambur forest region in Palakkad. According to reports, a seven-member team of Maoists, seeing the Thunderbolt team, opened fire on them but in the retaliatory fire, three ultras were shot down and the rest managed to escape back into the forests.

Palakkad:Kerala police and the thunderbolt team are on high alert after receiving evidence regarding the presence of Maoist in the Nilambur forest. The police have also launched combing and search operation to catch hold of the Maoists.

The Maoists are up in arms against the Vijayan government for the shooting down of four Maoists in the deep forest ranges bordering the Palakkad and Malappuram districts last month.

The Vadakara police station had earlier received a letter which said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would be dealt with, in the way he should be dealt with, as he was responsible for the death of total seven Maoists.

The Maoists have also threatened to eliminate Perambara Sub Inspector Harish for the way he is treating the people.

Earlier in the month, the Thunderbolt team of the Kerala Police eliminated three alleged Maoists, including a woman, after an exchange of fire in Kerala's Palakkad forest area.

The Thunderbolt team had gone for combing operations inside the forests after reports about the presence of Maoists there.

Since Vijayan assumed office in 2016, in all seven Maoists have been gunned down.
