Alcoholic man beat his parents to death in Kerala

The accused attacked the elderly parents with an axe without any provocation; the police have taken him into custody for further investigation

Thrissur (Kerala):An alcoholic son has beaten his parents to death here in Avinissery on Tuesday night, Kerala Police said on Wednesday.

According to the police, Karuthedath Ramakrishnan (75) and his wife Thankamani (70) were killed by their son Pradeep with an axe. He attacked the elderly couple without any provocation while they were talking at the doorstep.

The injured elderly couple was rushed to Thrissur General hospital and later shifted to Medical College hospital. While Karuthedath Ramakrishnan succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Tuesday night, Thankamani died the next morning.

Pradeep, a constant nuisance at home, was living separately from his wife and daughter. He used to abuse them as well.

The accused was produced in court and the police have taken him in custody for further examination on Wednesday.
