Ernakulam (Kerala): The Kerala High Court division bench including Justice P B Suresh Kumar and Justice K Babu upheld the verdict of Lok Ayukta against former minister K T Jaleel over nepotism charges. The HC rejected the petition filed by Jaleel against the Lok Ayukta verdict. The court observed that there were no lapses on the part of Lok Ayukta and so the High Court can't intervene in its verdict.

In the order issued by Lok Ayukta, it was observed that Jaleel had misused power and there was a breach of oath and is not deserving to continue as a minister. The controversy against Jaleel was he appointed his relative KT Adeeb as the general manager of the State Minority Development Corporation.

Jaleel alleged in his petition that the report of Lok Ayukta was prepared without conducting even a preliminary probe and without following the procedures. The state government also supported Jaleel's claim.

KT Jaleel, who was the Higher Education Minister had resigned from his post last Tuesday, while the arguments in his petitions were progressing.
