Ernakulam: A 55-year-old housemaid, who was undergoing treatment for injuries after falling from the sixth floor of the flat she worked, has died. She reportedly fell off the building while attempting to escape.
The incident happened on December 5. The deceased, Kumari (55), a native of Salem, Tamil Nadu had undergone surgery in a private hospital in Kochi.
Kumari's husband had lodged a complaint alleging that she was detained in the flat by her employer and was mentally abused. Her husband claimed the incident to be suspicious as she would not try to escape without the knowledge of the flat owner. The sari which was found hanging from the sixth floor led to suspicion.
Kumari was working in the flat of Imtiaz Ahmed, secretary of the Flat Owners' Association at the Link Horizon flat complex in Marine Drive, Ernakulam.
