Trivandrum:M Sivasankar, former IT Secretary and former Principal Secretary, who is being interrogated by the investigation agencies in connection with the gold smuggling through diplomatic baggage channel at Trivandrum International Airport over his alleged links with the key accused, has been shifted from a private hospital to Trivandrum Medical College Hospital Saturday afternoon.

Sivasankar was admitted to a private hospital in Karamana following physical discomforts and sickness on Friday.

While the media persons were taking the visuals of Sivasankar being shifted from the private hospital, the hospital staff manhandled them leading to a ruckus. News photographers and TV channel camera persons were attacked by the hospital staff.

As the police hesitated to take action against the hospital staff who attacked them, the media persons protested in front of the private hospital.

Sivasankar fell ill while he was about to go for the Customs interrogation on Friday. In the angiogram tests conducted on Saturday, it was found that he did not have any cardiac problems. His blood pressure was also found to be normal. However, the doctors had advised him to undergo treatment for back pain he had been suffering owing to the disc problems.

The Customs investigation team which had interrogated Sivasankar on October 9 and 10, had asked him to be present for another round of interrogation on October 13. However, as Sivasankar requested the Customs for more time to produce the evidence, the interrogation session was rescheduled for October 15. As the Enforcement Directorate had also interrogated Sivasankar on October 15, he could not appear before the Customs department on the same day.

When the Customs told him to appear again, he pointed out some health issues following which the Customs decided to interrogate him at Trivandrum itself and served an interrogation notice for Friday. Sivasankar experienced uneasiness and physical difficulties after receiving the notice.

Later, as requested by him, the Customs officials took him to the private hospital where his wife works.
