Kids contribute money raised to buy cycle towards CMDRF in Kerala

As Kerala move ahead with people-centric governance during COVID-19, children too are chipping in to aid the state's remarkable battle against the novel coronavirus. Two little children from Malappuram donated their entire savings, which they had collected to purchase a bicycle, to the CM relief fund.

Malappuram: These little girls from Malappuram district parted with the money they had raised in three years to buy a bicycle just to help the State.

Eight-year-old Beyon and her sister Beyol, 2nd and 4th standard students with the Little Flower School in Nilambur, donated their piggy bank savings of Rs 8107, towards the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), on Beyon’s birthday.

The girls seemed doubly happy to spare the money. They thought, helping the State now is more important than buying a cycle for themselves.

The children had saved all the coins that their parents had given them in the past three years and were planning to buy a bicycle on Beyon’s 8th birthday. All the coins of goodness were counted to Rs 8107.

However, when the whole world is suffering and struggling to get over the COVID disease, helping people is more important than getting a cycle, the little girls realised.

When their parents Shiby and Binu, knew about the kids’ intention, they happily supported the children. Bags of coins were counted together and confirmed to be Rs 8107. Their younger sister Beyo also joined to count the coins.

Birthday girl Beyon said, “Contributing this money to the CMDRF is more needed now than buying myself a cycle.” Beyol said they are happy that they could donate their savings and help the State in Corona fight.
