Thiruvananthapuram: Amid the decline of prevalence in the second wave of covid, the situation remains alarming in the state due to the steady increase in the death rate. Even though the test positivity rate and the number of patients in different districts are low, this is not reflected in the number of deaths. Since June, the state has also witnessed a decline in the number of cases.

On June 14, the state reported 11,342 deaths. 3507 deaths were reported in May. The death rate in the state is 0.41 per cent. According to district wise reports, Thiruvananthapuram district has the highest number of deaths. Here the death toll climbed unto 2401. This is followed by Thrissur with 1240 deaths, Kozhikode with 1180, Ernakulam with 1103, Palakkad with 917, Alappuzha with 874, Malappuram with 850, Kannur with 759, Kollam with 668, Kottayam with 518, Pathanamthitta with 352, Wayanad with 190, Kasargod with 185 and Idukki with 103 death rates.
