Police arrest accused in Kerala doctor's murder

Kerala police arrested the accused in the murder of Dr Sona in Thrissur. The accused stabbed the dentist to death in her clinic following a financial rift between them.

Thrissur: Mahesh, accused in the murder of dentist Sona in Kuttanelloor, Thrissur was arrested by the police on Tuesday. The accused, a native of Pavaratty, was arrested from Poonkunnam. He is said to be the business partner and friend of deceased Dr Sona.

Sona, a native of Muvattupuzha, was stabbed to death by Mahesh in front of her relatives at her dental clinic in Kuttanelloor. Sona succumbed to her injuries on October 3. After the incident, Mahesh absconded from the spot. The police took Mahesh into custody early Tuesday after days of manhunt.

Sona was a practising dentist and ran her clinic, while Mahesh was a contractor. According to the police, following a rift between the two over sharing the proceeds from her dental clinic, there was an altercation at the clinic on September 28. Dr Sona had lodged a complaint against Mahesh regarding the financial issues between them. Mahesh stabbed her in revenge.
