Kozhikode: Kerala Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader A K Saseendran said the party would initiate disciplinary action against Mani C Kappan who recently joined the opposition front.

"Mani C Kappan’s stand on the issue is emotional, not political," said A K Saseendran. He was reacting to Kappan’s move to form a new party and ally with the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Kappan, following a dispute with Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), regarding the seat allocation in Pala assembly constituency, joined the United Democratic Fron (UDF). Kappan wanted to run for the elections from Pala seat. Tiffs emerged within the NCP, allied to the Left Democratic Front, owing to Kappan’s stand on LDF’s Pala seat allocation plans. "Kappan spoiled the merit NCP had to raise its claim on Pala seat. There is no point discussing Pala seat any further," Saseendran added.

"Mani C Kappan’s decision to form a new party is not appropriate. The party leadership would have to initiate disciplinary action against him for such a move. Kappan’s claims that the leaders are with him is not supported by logic. There are not more than 3 leaders with Kappan," said Saseendran.

Minister Saseendran also said that the NCP workers who participate in Ramesh Chennithala’s Aishwarya Kerala Yathra would have to face the consequent action.
