Kannur (Kerala): Health officials in Kerala have been left scratching their heads after a man, hospitalised after a jackfruit fell on him, tested positive for coronavirus.
According to reports, the man from the Kasargod's Belur, suffered a spinal injury after a jackfruit fell on his head while he was trying to pluck one from a tree.
He was then rushed to the Pariyaram Medical College in Kannur, where he underwent a surgery.
However, when the doctors decided to do his swab test along with the pre-surgery tests, the man tested positive for COVID-19, even though he exhibited no symptoms of the disease.
Meanwhile, the health department is not sure from where the man contracted the infection. It is currently is charting out the contact history of the man and trying to ascertain whether he possibly interacted with any of the previously reported COVID-19 positive cases.
With 53 and 62 new COVID-19 positive cases registered on May 23 and 24 respectively, Kerala saw a surge of over 100 positive cases in the past two days, the highest registered so far.
