Ernakulam: The Kerala High Court on Monday quashed the state government's order slashing the price of RT PCR tests to Rs 500 from Rs 1700 at all private labs in the state. The court also asked the government to deliberate with private lab owners and take a fresh decision regarding the matter.
The High Court was hearing a petition filed by lab owners. The lab owners mentioned in the plea that the government's action in fixing the rates was not legal. The government informed the court that the rates were slashed after finding out that the cost of the equipment required for the test in the market was only Rs 240.
