Death toll due to Kerala floods rises to 83
The death toll due to Kerala Floods has risen to 83. The search operations are still continuing in landslide-hit areas, Kavalappara in Malappuram district and Puthumala in Wayanad.
There is no Red Alert in any of the districts. But "orange alert" has been issued for six districts including Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram, Idukki, Ernakulam and Alappuzha.
Yellow alert in five districts -Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur and Pathanamthitta- on Tuesday.

Kerala floods: Rains have almost reduced, evacuation efforts over
Search operations continue in Meppadi, Wayanad and Kavalapara, Malappuram. 50 people in Malappuram and 7 in Wayanad are still missing.
Evacuation efforts are over. Water has started receding in many areas.
Now the focus will be on the rehabilitation of families who lost their houses. Overall the situation is improving.

Observatory wall of the Bekal fort partially damaged
Bekal:The heavy rain since Friday had partially damaged the wall of the second observatory tower at the east side of the fort.
The wall was built centuries before using laterite bricks.
Following the wreckage, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has restricted visitors from climbing over the tower in fear of further accidents.
To restrict the entry of visitors iron rod has been placed.

Rahul Gandhi meets and distributes relief materials to the people of Wayanad
Wayanad:Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi visited a relief camp in Kaithapoyil today.
Addressing media, Gandhi said, "As your MP, I called CM and requested him to help here as aggressively as possible. I also called the PM and explained to him the tragedy that has taken place here and the need for support from the centre."
Rahul Gandhi earlier appealed to the people to provide relief materials to those hit by the devastating floods in his Wayanad LokSabha constituency.
He is currently visiting areas ravaged by floods and landslides in his constituency.
Rahul Gandhi, who is on a two-day tour to Kerala, has been visiting relief camps and reviewing relief operations in his constituency.

Two fishermen died after boat capsized in the sea
Thiruvananthapuram: Two fishermen from Chirayinkeezhu died on Monday after their boat capsized in the sea.
The deceased, identified as Laser Thomas and Rocky Benchinos, were part of a five-member team that went for fishing from Chirayinkeezhu.
While Laser and Thomas died after the boat turned over, three others accompanying them managed to escape.
The bodies of the deceased have been brought to Chirayinkeezhu Taluk hospital.
Kerala is grappling with flood fury followed by incessant rains for the past several days.
According to data published by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), 72 people have lost their lives while 32 sustained injuries due to flood-related incidents across the state.
KSDMA released district-wise data between August 8 and August 11 till 9 PM, as per which 58 people are still missing in the rain-battered state.
Malappuram remains the most affected district where 23 people have lost their lives while 50 were missing as of Sunday evening.
Over 2.5 people across 14 districts of the state have been affected by the heavy downpour.

Kerala floods: Death toll rises to 83
Thiruvananthapuram: Incessant rains that triggered flooding has claimed 72 lives across the state, according to a data of Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA).
KSDMA has released a district-wise data between August 8 and August 11 till 9 pm in which it states that 58 people were still missing as the state continues to battle with flood fury.
Malappuram remained the most affected district where 23 people have lost their lives while 50 were still missing till Sunday evening.
Over 2.5 people across 14 districts affected from heavy downpour while 32 people sustained injuries due to flood-related incidents.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who represents Wayanad constituency in the Lok Sabha, is on a two-day visit to review the relief measures in the district.
Taking to Facebook, Gandhi appealed people to donate water bottles, sleeping mats, blankets, sanitary napkins, biscuits, rice, sugar, vegetables at different collection centres in Malappuram district.
"An Appeal My Parliamentary Constituency, Wayanad, has been devastated by floods with thousands left homeless and shifted to relief camps. We are in urgent need of the following material: Water bottles....." he wrote on Facebook.
IMD has predicted "heavy rainfall" at isolated parts over Kerala from August 12 till August 16. The meteorological department also advised fishermen not to venture into those areas.
"Strong winds, speed reaching 45-55 km, are likely to prevail over the southwest, central and north Arabian Sea and along & off Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat coasts, Lakshadweep area, south Tamilnadu coast and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Squally weather is likely to prevail over West Bengal and Odisha coasts. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas," the IMD bulletin said.
