Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Students of Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School from Vazhuthacaud here have come up with a new way to raise funds for flood relief.
Anupam Sreekumar, a student and international chess player at the school, is organizing a chess competition with 30 students simultaneously for the purpose.
The chess competition was part of various programs organised by Carmel School in connection with flood relief aid.
Registration fees received from the contestants will be paid to the relief fund.
Minister EP Jayarajan inaugurated the competition.
As the districts of Wayanad and Malappuram are facing a grim situation with houses washed away due to flood and landslide, 'Kudeyundu Kottayam' a group from Kottayam district in Kerala lead by NGO's and local self-government corporation is also trying its best to help victims to get back to their normal lives.
The students of the college and many government officials of the district are tirelessly engaged in collecting the relief materials which are being transported to the relief camps of Wayanad and Malappuram.
