Kerala election bribery case: Court orders K Surendran to take voice-matching test

Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party president, K Surendran will be subjected to voice matching test as per court's order in the election bribery case.

Wayanad: The Sulthan Batheri First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has directed the investigation agency to examine the recorded voice clip of BJP state president K Surendran in which he allegedly offered money to tribal leader C K Janu to contest for NDA from Sulthan Bathery. CK Janu contested on BJP ticket from Sulthan Bathery during the last Assembly elections.

The prosecution case is that K Surendran gave Rs. 35 lakhs as a bribe to Janu to contest from Sulthan Bathery for NDA. Praseetha Azheekode, who is a Janathipathya Rashtreeya Party (JRP) leader had leaked out one of her conversations with K Surendran where he allegedly told Praseetha that he gave Rs. 35 lakhs to her leader C K Janu for contesting from Sulthan Bathery.

Wayanad Crime Branch, which is investigating this case had approached the court for getting permission to examine the recorded voice clip. The court directed both Surendran and Praseetha to give their voice samples at Chithranjali Studio in Thiruvananthapuram on October 11. K Surendran is the prime accused in the case and Praseetha is the prosecution witness.
