Kerala e-Learning portal to ensure cyber safety of school children

As children are getting used to online classes due to the lockdown in the country, the Kerala police have come up with an e-Learning platform named ‘Kidglove’, to ensure the cyber safety of the school children. Developed in association with the Australian Government, the e-Learning website was officially launched by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police has come up with an e-Learning platform to ensure the cyber safety of school children, at a time when online classes have become the new normal in school education during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is for the first time in India that a State Police team comes up with such a cyber safety mechanism for the children.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan officially launched ‘Kidglove’, an e-Learning website developed in association with the Australian Government here on Monday.

As part of their studies, children are to spend more time on the internet. Making them vulnerable to the traps in the digital world. The project aims at training the children with the safe and secure use of internet foreseeing the risks involved as the children are to attend their classes online from now on. It also provides toolkits and advice for parents and teachers to help their wards to have safe online sessions.

Kerala Police developed this e-Safety mechanism in association with the E-Safety Commissioner’s office Australia and Information and Technology Research Association.

ADGP Manoj Abraham, who is in charge of Cyber Dome, Kerala Police, said that all parents and teachers would be provided with awareness classes regarding cyber safety. In the portal www.kidglove.in, the students would be trained in the nuances of live classes and Robotics virtual classrooms. All those who complete the training would be issued with a certificate by the Police. The site would also educate parents and teachers on modern technology in online learning, said ADGP Manoj Abraham.
