Vasantha had allegedly intervened to expedite the eviction procedure, which in turn led to the self-immolation threat and the accidental death of the couple. Earlier, Rajan- Ambili, the deceased couple’s children had alleged that Vasantha had intervened to expedite the eviction procedure even before the High Court verdict was given.

State Minister Kadakampally Surendran, who had visited the couple’s children on Tuesday, had said that Vasantha would be taken into police custody. He said it would also be inquired whether there were any lapses from the part of the police in the unfortunate incident.

Soon after this, the Police reached Vasantha’s house and took her along. The police said she has been shifted considering her security and to avoid law and order issues in this situation. The disputed land where Rajan and his family used to live is along the boundary of Vasantha’s premises. After the couple’s death, many have been reaching the couple’s home. The Police have shifted Vasantha considering the widespread allegations against her and the Police in expediting the eviction procedure.

Meanwhile, the locals were irked by Vasantha’s statement earlier that she would continue to fight legally against those who attempted to encroach her land through goondaism and will not let go.

Following her reaction, locals had gathered and held a demonstration in protest. She has now been shifted from there considering the unrest in the locality after the couple’s death.

Rajan and Ambili have succumbed to their burns on Monday. Earlier on Tuesday, the State Government had intervened and assured to build a house for the couple’s children and protect them.
