Ernakulam(Kerala): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday inaugurated two most awaited flyovers in Kochi, named Vytilla flyover and Kundannoor flyover through video conferencing.
The CM said he is dedicating both Vyttilla and Kundannoor flyovers to the people of Kerala with much pride and happiness.
Finance Minister Thomas Issac was the chief guest of the function through the same mode.
During the constructions of these flyovers, there were many challenges and hurdles. He lauded the Public Works Department (PWD) for completing the works despite all the hitches in between.
Kerala PWD proved that the department is no less than any private construction agencies in the country. This is also the flyover that is completed by the State on theNational Highway. There may be some who are disturbed by the developments happening. They try to be known for creating issues. What can be done when people who have been in high positions in the judiciary get involved in such activities? The Government is going ahead with the motto of new times, new constructions’, the CM said.
PWD Minister G Sudhakaran, who presided over the ceremony, started his address by strongly criticising the ‘V 4 Kochi’ collective; members of which had opened up the flyover a few days ago before its scheduled inauguration by the CM.

The Minister alleged that during the construction stage of the flyover, a few had tried to bring hurdles by creating controversies. Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, who was the Chief Guest for the ceremony, said, the flyovers built using funds from Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), is also a befitting reply for those who raised criticism against the KIIFB.
Besides people’s representatives and Ministers, many from the public had gathered to witness the inauguration ceremony of the Vyttilla flyover. The flyover is 440 metres long, with a 150-metre long approach road on the side towards Alappuzha and a 120 metres long approach road towards Aluva side. Including the approach road length, the flyover is 720 metres long altogether.
As both the newly constructed flyovers have been opened for traffic on Saturday, the travel on the NH is expected to be easy and quick hereafter, with no traffic blocks.
